Vintage WW2 Waltham Admiralty Pattern No.6 Military Stopwatch – 1943, 9 Jewels, Working

Description:
A rare WW2-era Waltham Admiralty Pattern No.6 “ASDIC” stopwatch, used by the Royal Navy in anti-submarine operations. This model was designed to measure distances underwater via echo sounding (ASDIC), essentially timing how long sound took to travel to a submarine and back. The dial is calibrated in both yards and seconds and the mechanism is intended to measure half the speed of sound in seawater in seconds.

Estimated production June 1943, with movement serial number 31378455. The movement is 9-jewel, size 16s, and housed in a chrome-plated case engraved PATT. 6 U2993.

The dial is signed Waltham U.S.A. and marked Admiralty Pattern No.6, with scales in seconds and yards. The watch is in good working condition, with case and crystal both in excellent order. There is expected patina and tarnish to the hand and dial, which is consistent with age and service use.

A genuine piece of WW2 military timekeeping equipment, robustly built and designed for naval applications.
