A beautifully preserved vintage Smiths pocket watch, made in Great Britain by Smiths Industries Ltd. The watch presents in superb condition, showing minimal signs of age or use. It has a clean white dial with luminous hands and Arabic numerals, and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The chrome case retains a bright mirror finish throughout.
Brief Maker History:
Smiths Industries Ltd, based in Cheltenham and later in Cricklewood, London, was one of the most important British watch and instrument manufacturers of the 20th century. They produced clocks, watches, and timing instruments for both civilian and military use, including RAF and Ministry of Defence contracts. Smiths watches were famously “The only watch made in England” and were used on early Everest expeditions.
