Antique Victorian Silver Fob / Pendant – Chester 1890 – Samuel Garside

Description

A fine antique Victorian sterling silver fob / pendant, hallmarked to Chester in 1890 and bearing the maker’s mark S.G for Samuel Garside.

This attractive piece is formed as a decorative cross with pierced detail and engraved foliate decoration to the front. The reverse is plain, showing honest age-related surface wear consistent with a Victorian silver item of this type.

Originally intended as a watch fob, it also works beautifully today as a pendant.

Supplied in a Bowles Ltd microfibre gift pouch.

Brief Maker History

Samuel Garside was a Chester-based silversmith active in the late 19th century, producing a range of small silver wares including fobs, medals, and jewellery. Chester-made silver is particularly collectible due to the assay office’s closure in 1962.
