Description

A beautiful antique sterling silver brooch, hallmarked in Birmingham for 1927 and bearing the maker's mark of Charles Usher. This attractive circular brooch features an ornate engraved silver border surrounding a decorative gold-coloured shield to the centre, likely gilt or gold-filled, creating an elegant two-tone appearance.

The finely engraved decoration and heraldic-style shield give the piece a distinctive Edwardian-to-Art Deco transitional character. Presented in a Bowles Ltd. gift box, it would make a wonderful addition to a collection of antique jewellery, silver brooches or heraldic-themed pieces.

Maker History

Charles Usher was a Birmingham silversmith and jewellery manufacturer active during the early twentieth century. Birmingham was one of the world's leading centres for silver jewellery production, and pieces from this period are appreciated for their quality craftsmanship and decorative engraving.
