Description:
A beautiful antique silver cased Waltham pocket watch dating to 1882, featuring an American Waltham movement housed in an English silver case hallmarked for Birmingham. This elegant key wound pocket watch has a classic white enamel dial with Roman numerals and blued subsidiary seconds hand, together with a finely finished movement signed “Waltham, Mass.”. The watch is currently in good working order and presents exceptionally well for its age, retaining a very clean and honest appearance throughout. Supplied complete with key and presented in a Bowles Ltd gift box.

The American Waltham Watch Company was one of the most important watch manufacturers of the 19th century and pioneered large-scale industrialised watchmaking in the United States. Founded in Massachusetts in 1850, Waltham became renowned worldwide for producing accurate and reliable timepieces, with many exported to Britain and housed in locally made silver or gold cases.
