Description
A handsome vintage Waltham pocket watch featuring a Swiss-made 17 jewel Unitas movement housed in an attractive engraved case. The watch is stem wound and stem set, running well and keeping good time at the time of listing.
The watch is fitted with a highly unusual and decorative dial featuring Roman numerals, floral motifs and agricultural scenes, making it a particularly eye-catching example. The rear cover is beautifully engraved with a detailed farming scene depicting cattle and a farmer at work. Incorporated into the engraving is the mark "Dep. Huguenin", believed to refer to a registered design associated with the renowned Swiss engraving and watch-case manufacturer Huguenin Frères of Le Locle, known for their high-quality decorative metalwork and watch case engraving.
