Description:
An original antique American Waltham Watch Company pocket watch movement dating to approximately 1891. This is an 18-size Model 1883 movement, complete with its original enamel dial and subsidiary seconds display.

The movement is signed “Waltham, Mass.” and carries serial number 4686474. The dial is marked “A.W.W.Co. Waltham Mass.” with black Roman numerals and a seconds sub dial. The movement retains its decorative engraved regulator assembly and safety pinion.

The movement winds correctly, however the balance is faulty and the watch is not currently running. The hour hand has snapped, and the enamel dial has a visible hairline crack. A good honest restoration project or useful donor movement for parts.

Maker History:
The American Waltham Watch Company was one of the pioneers of industrialised watchmaking and among the most respected American watch manufacturers of the 19th century. Based in Waltham, Massachusetts, the company produced millions of precision pocket watches and movements that became known worldwide for their reliability and quality. The service history is unknown, and servicing or repair will almost certainly be required before use. This item is sold as a vintage collectible rather than a modern timepiece.
