Description
A handsome antique English silver fusee pocket watch, hallmarked for London 1873 with the maker's mark of William Carter. This substantial Victorian pocket watch retains its original white enamel dial marked "Improved Patent" and is powered by a traditional key-wound fusee movement.
The watch winds smoothly and is currently running. The movement is unsigned but features attractive engraved balance cock and retains much of its original character. The silver case remains in very good condition with an attractive engine-turned finish to the rear cover and vacant cartouche.
A key is included with the watch.

William Carter was a London silversmith and case maker active during the Victorian period, producing quality silver watch cases for many English watchmakers. London-made silver cases from this period are known for their solid construction and excellent craftsmanship.
