Antique Omega Silver Cased Pocket Watch – 1916–1923
This is a charming, early 20th-century Omega pocket watch with a 0.800 hallmarked silver case. The watch is in working order, winding and ticking smoothly. Featuring an enamel dial with black Arabic numerals and a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock, it’s a fine example of Omega’s craftsmanship during the 1916–1923 (estimated) period. The engine-turned case has a circular guilloché finish and displays a clear 0.800 silver hallmark. A small crack to the crystal is present but does not detract from the dial’s pristine appearance.
Brief History of the Maker:
Omega was founded in 1848 by Louis Brandt in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland. By 1894, the company adopted the name “Omega,” after its successful calibre 19-ligne movement, and quickly gained a reputation for precision timing. During World War I and the interwar years, Omega supplied watches to military forces around the world, cementing its status as a leading Swiss watchmaker. This particular movement (serial number 5,984,170) dates from about 1916–1923, a time when Omega was transitioning into one of the foremost names in horology.
