Antique Fram Silver Pocket Watch with Ornate Silver Fronted Travel Case – Hallmarked Birmingham 1903

This is a stunning antique Fram Silver Pocket Watch accompanied by a beautifully ornate silver-fronted travel case. The travel case is fully hallmarked for Birmingham 1903, crafted by renowned silversmiths Adie & Lovekin Ltd. The intricate detailing on the silver front adds an air of elegance to this functional timepiece, making it a wonderful collector's item.

The watch itself is marked by G-Henri Liengme, a prominent Swiss watchmaker known for producing high-quality Galonne (gilt) pocket watches during the late 19th and early 20th centuries. His watches were often designed with precision movements and encased in 80% silver (0.800), appealing to a wide range of customers looking for fine craftsmanship and reliability. Liengme's work has gained recognition for combining Swiss watchmaking excellence with timeless, elegant designs.

Key Features:

  • Watch Movement: Stem-wound, ticks along smoothly. Age presumed similar to the case, but the last service date is unknown. While it runs well, we recommend a service if you plan to use it regularly.
  • Movement Markings: The rear of the movement is marked “Fram” and “Patent”.
  • Watch Face: The face is marked "Fram", though it has some damage to the enamel between 8 and 11 o’clock. The hands are in good condition, and there are surface scratches on the crystal.
  • Watch Case: The watch case is marked with serial number “10230”“Galonne”“0.800”, and "Extra Fram G.H.L." for G-Henri Liengme. The case is in good condition, with areas of light tarnish and wear. All hinges and clips are in working order.
  • Travel Case: The travel case is silver fronted with excellent detailed silverwork. It is hallmarked Birmingham 1903, made by Adie & Lovekin Ltd. The rear of the case shows some signs of age, but the spring clip works perfectly.
  • Dimensions:
    • Travel Case: 96mm x 90mm x 29mm
    • Pocket Watch Case Diameter: 50mm
    • Watch Face Diameter: 42mm
    • Watch Thickness: 15mm

Condition:

  • Pocket Watch: The watch movement runs well but hasn’t been tested for accuracy. The enamel face has damage from 8 to 11, and the crystal has surface scratches.
  • Travel Case: The silver front is in excellent condition with intricate detailing, while the rear of the case shows some wear consistent with age.

This lovely antique pocket watch, made by G-Henri Liengme, paired with its ornate travel case, would make an excellent addition to any collection or a wonderful display piece.
