1939 Sterling Silver Desk Calendar – Birmingham – W.J. Myatt & Co
Description
An attractive sterling silver–fronted perpetual desk calendar, hallmarked in Birmingham for 1939 and bearing the maker’s mark of W.J. Myatt & Co. The calendar is mounted on a solid wooden base and features the original rotating mechanism for months and dates, operated via the knurled adjustment knobs at the top.
The clear plastic indicator sheet with the red line used to mark off dates has split and come away from one of the rollers, this could be repaired, although the calendar still functions without it.
This is a well-made late interwar piece, combining practical desk use with understated period design, and would display very nicely once attended to.
